What\u2019s it like to work @Avant? We asked Qin for her take on our culture, and here\u2019s what she said:<\/h3>\n

1. How would you describe Avant\u2019s culture?<\/h3>\n

\"Qin<\/a>We are definitely growth-oriented. We have grown and changed quite a lot since I started in 2018. We\u2019re also very collaborative and supportive. I strongly feel that is the culture here. I\u2019m thinking about two big projects I worked on, where everyone was working toward a common goal and solving problems together. That really stands out to me, over all my years at Avant. Even this year, there have been projects where Tech, Legal, and my team worked so closely to get things done. Those experiences really formed my opinion about how collaborative and supportive we are.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Why are you happy\/successful here?<\/b><\/h3>\n

The thing I\u2019m happiest about is that I never feel like I’ve stopped learning. My role has changed a lot\u2014I started as a data analyst in Collections, and then the manager of the Originations team reached out with an opportunity on their team, and I moved to Card Originations. Then later, Card Account Management asked if I wanted to get exposure to another function on the Card team, and I said, \u201cGreat! Let\u2019s try it,\u201d and switched again. As Avant grows, there\u2019s more demand for these roles, which creates opportunities for us to move to different teams and to get exposure to different experiences. That really makes me happy working here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, I would say Avant\u2019s response to the new technologies as a company is top tier. We are not slow. For example, AI tools\u2014Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude\u2014we have rolled these out across the company and are encouraged to use them. I think that is a great culture, to have the company proactively accepting new technologies. We even have an AI champions Slack channel where we share new findings and talk about usage cases. I started using those tools late, so I learn a lot from other people\u2019s experiences, and I think that is fantastic.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. <\/b>If you were to describe who you are and not mention your work at all, what would you say?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I\u2019m a lifelong learner and always have curiosity to try new stuff. I\u2019m very open to new things. I definitely have my favorites when it comes to food or exercise, but I am always willing to try. I started biking this year, and I\u2019m excited to explore new areas and try new restaurants.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. <\/b>What\u2019s something Avant is really good at? What’s something you’d like to see us get better at?<\/b><\/h3>\n

I mentioned some of what we\u2019re really good at, like how we embrace new technology and collaborate and provide an environment for people to learn. Those are all strengths of ours. When I think about what we could get better at\u2026Avant has a lot of activities, like Toastmasters, the Chase Corporate Challenge Run, the Table Tennis Tournament, our volleyball team. Many of them are sports and social activities. I\u2019m kind of introverted and not very good at sports, and I was thinking, what if we had a language exchange group? I\u2019m very interested in that! We have employees from lots of different countries and cultures, and it would be cool to make some new connections in a group where we could share those things.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. How does your work at Avant fit in with the rest of your life?<\/b><\/h3>\n

So the one belief that has guided me for a long time is that the only constant is change. It has guided me in my personal life, and my experience at Avant fits into that mindset very well, too. Both at work and outside of work, they share that same pattern.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Doctor. My mom had some issues with her health, and at that time I thought, \u201cI want to be a doctor. I want to help her get better.\u201d But as I grew up and learned more details about how to become a doctor, it\u2019s so many lessons and subjects and I said, \u201cokay, I\u2019m not gonna do that!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
